Ho ho ho! Merry Disney Christmas, everyone! It’s the holiday season at Tokyo Disney Resort, and that means a new slate of food to devour and review for you all! So, let’s take a closer look at the tasty treats to celebrate the season this year!
Last year, Tokyo Disneyland introduced a special donut themed to the decor around the park. This year, they’ve given it another go with a Chocolate Donut, filled with custard. I’ll give them credit, the wrapping is cute and the donut is a good. Unfortunately, the fact that it’s $3.49 for a single donut makes it a tough sell.
Chocolate Donut – ¥380 ($3.49)
There’s not a whole lot to say about this. It’s a standard chocolate donut (chilled in a fridge), featuring dark chocolate icing and a hefty helping of sprinkles on top.
When you open up the inside, you can see the custard inside, which complements the donut quite well. It’s an excellent donut, it tastes as expected, but then you need to remember how much you paid for it. $3.49 for a single donut is rather steep, especially considering the same type of donut can be bought next door at the Ikspiari Krispy Kreme for at least $1.50 less. Or even more crazy and extravagant varieties! You’re paying for the convenience of not walking five minutes over to Ikspiari and getting one of their donuts.
Well, you’re getting one other thing: this adorable wrapping paper. I love the retro characters designs this year, and the chocolate donut wrapper certainly follows that design language. This design is so good, I think I might just keep it!
All in all, you’re really better off getting a different, more unique snack. Or walking over to the Ikspiari Krispy Kreme. Seriously, $3.49 isn’t worth it for what you get. The donut is nothing special.
