REVIEW: Hot Cheese Caramel Milk Tea Warms Our Taste Buds at Tokyo Disneyland’s Cafe Orleans

With the changing of the seasons also comes the demand for hot, delicious beverages to warm Guests in the cold Tokyo winters. Tokyo Disney Resort has a funny trend of creating strange combination drinks that are either home runs or huge misses. One particular example is the Popcorn Soda with Donut from this past Halloween, a crazy idea that turned out to be one of the season’s finest treats! So I went in with cautious optimism when I saw the new Cheese Caramel Milk Tea on Cafe Orleans’ menu! How’s the taste? Well, you’ll be surprised.

Hot Cheese Caramel Milk Tea – ¥500 ($4.59)

The Cheese Caramel Milk Tea is part of the savory D’s Delights series of beverages. However, this is probably the funkiest combination I’ve seen so far. I’m fairly familiar with the concept of cheese tea after dining at several New York City Chinese restaurants, but I had no idea how the caramel would affect the taste.

When given the drink, you’re also handed a spoon and instructed to stir it so the drink mixes evenly. Those caramel chips melted fairly easily into the rest of the drink. It’s primarily a cream cheese type of savory cheese, with the cheese and caramel chips melting easily into the milk base. The rich cream cheese taste with the sweet saltiness of caramel came together for a delicious combination. This drink is perfect for a cold night when you don’t want something overly sweet like cocoa. Out of all beverages I had for Disney Christmas, this was probably my favorite!

If you’re looking for a unique treat to warm you up on a cold winter’s night, the Cheese Caramel Milk Tea should absolutely be your first choice at Tokyo Disneyland! This one even extends past Disney Christmas, available all the way through March 19th, 2020!
