The holidays have arrived at Disneyland Resort, and there are many new food offerings. This year, you can try a Salisbury steak dish from Flo’s V-8 Cafe in Cars Land. Salisbury steak is a classic dish that has stood the test of time, but will this 50’s T.V. dinner make the naughty or nice? Let’s find out!
Flo’s V-8 Cafe looks great all decked out for the holidays!
Here’s a look at what Flo’s is offering this holiday season.
Salisbury Steak Dish (1/3 lb Angus Beef Patty, Green Chile Potatoes, Mushroom Gravy and Seasonal Vegetables) – $12.99
The presentation of this dish is fascinating. We have an Angus beef patty placed on top of green chile potatoes, then topped with mushroom gravy. To make this all better, it all sits on top of two pieces of toast.
The mushroom gravy was flowing down onto the toast.
Let’s look at the veggies. This dish was served with steamed broccoli and carrots, which are referred to as the ‘seasonal vegetables’ on the menu. They have salt and pepper sprinkled delicately on top of them.
The first thing we did was shift the beef patty off the food tower to try a bit of it. The patty was pretty dry, but seasoned well. It tasted like a hamburger with a little bit of a French onion flavor. There was a salty factor that played a role in the meat, but it was scarcely noticeable. While it was dry, we thought the taste made up for it.
The mushroom gravy was by far the best part of this dish. It also carried the French onion taste that we liked in the steak. The small bits of mushrooms were cooked perfectly and added more of an earthy flavor to the gravy. It had a perfect consistency and paired with the Salisbury steak nicely.
The mashed potatoes were nothing special. They were exceptionally salty, and the potato skin that was in the mix was very chewy. I found myself scraping the potatoes off the steak because I wasn’t too fond of the taste. The toast was just ordinary white bread; I think the dish would be fine without it.
You would think vegetables would be the safest part of this dish, but that is not the case here. They were chewy and cold. The salt and pepper somewhat helped, but could not save these poor veggies. The steak and gravy remain the highlight of this dish. This is not something I would get again.
If you want to try this dish for yourself, make sure you stop by Flo’s V-8 Cafe in Cars Land located in Disney California Adventure. It is available from November 8th, 2019, to January 6th, 2020. Let us know what you think!
