A new construction permit filed by Walt Disney World states that “A new guest interactive feature to wash sand” is coming to Fort Wilderness Campground. As you may remember, Fort Wildness is undergoing a large scale refurbishment and reimagining as part of the construction of Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge.

The permit doesn’t go into details about the interactive sand washing feature, but it does indicate the location is the “Fort Wilderness Mining Tower”.

This feature could be an interactive element like panning for gold or the like, but could also be a simple feature for washing off sand near the newly relocated beach at Fort Wilderness.

  1. Nice addition and it sounds like it fits in. What I love about fort wilderness is how slowed down things are there. It’s such a relaxing Oasis from the energy of the rest of the property.

  2. I just got back from a Wonderful stay at Fort Wilderness ! I love camping there but must say I was truly disappointed in all the construction and changed that are taking place. I used to enjoy the bike trail between fort wilderness lodge and the campgrounds. It was beautiful to watch the deer crossing when riding on the path. That is all closed off now. It’s seems like the new resort is going to be way to close to the campground. You would have thought maybe adding extra campsites would have been part of the plan! Seeing It’s always so difficult to reserve a spot.
