As part of EPCOT’s park-wide transformation, its main storefront MouseGear, which opened in 1999, is set to close for a major remodeling. On January 4, 2020, MouseGear will have its final day of operation in its current location.

Originally set to close this year, the store’s closure has been somewhat delayed, but it seems that work has begun in earnest, with counters already getting swapped out for temporary wheeled registers.

As we previously reported, the store will reopen in its temporary location in Innoventions East on January 5, 2020. The temporary location will also be called MouseGear.

Concept art for the remodeled MouseGear was revealed at this year’s D23 Expo. The last time the store was remodeled was in 2011, with the addition of new signage, fixtures, and registers. While that remodel was done in stages, the store will be fully updated as part of EPCOT’s new look.

Oh no! I love Mouse Gear and all of its fun details, especially looking up. I have a feeling the remodel will take the bland look of all of these new shops :(
