It may come as a surprise to you, but Christmas isn’t that big of a deal in Japan. The holiday is celebrated more for the pretty lights and a date night than any other significance. The real holiday of the early winter is New Year’s, which holds massive cultural significance in Japan. And since Tokyo Disney Resort loves to celebrate both traditional Disney and traditional Japanese norms, the resort puts on a little New Year’s event every year! Featured this year are Mickey and Minnie, since it’s the year of the rat. Er… mouse. And the best part is, they’re all decked out in adorable traditional Japanese garb, complete with kimono! What kind of merchandise celebrates New Year’s, you ask? Well, you can take a look in the video below, or keep scrolling to check out all of the Tokyo Disney Resort New Year’s merchandise for 2020!
