“Your efforts are wasted. YOU CANNOT ESCAPE! Your precious Resistance is about to be destroyed.”
Earlier this week, a new video surfaced showing what happens when one of the central Kylo Ren animatronics inside the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance attraction goes down: a B-mode screen goes up.
While the attraction boasts a number of incredible audio-animatronics (Lieutenant Bek being my personal favorite), less than a month into operation, a number of them are regularly inoperable. I’ve ridden a handful of times where the probe droid never descends from the ceiling, and now it seems that key animatronics are also failing to meet First Order expectations.
Inside Rise of the Resistance, there are two Kylo Ren animatronics. The first one you see inside an interrogation room alongside General Hux. Enraged to learn that his prisoners have escaped, he turns to the audience menacingly. “There’s nowhere to run!”, he yells.
The second one you see during one of the many escape scenes, just after the room with the blasting cannons. This is where Kylo Ren uses the Force to manipulate both transports simultaneously before a hole is blasted into a wall and he gets sucked into space.
If the second audio-animatronic is down, riders see a TIE Fighter attack scene take place through the windows. Kylo then makes an appearance on the screen aboard his own TIE variant, threatening riders of their imminent demise… before ultimately getting thwarted in a similar fashion. However, no such B-mode is available for the first Kylo Ren audio-animatronic (which is sad, because he’s much more impressive.) If the AA is down, it simply slumps motionlessly, despite riders hearing his dialogue.
What do you think of these broken and B-Mode versions of animatronics on the latest, cutting-edge attraction to debut at Walt Disney World?
Would you be disappointed if you went through the process of arriving early and securing a Boarding Group only to view broken, missing, or B-mode animatronics? Let us know in the comments, and feel free to vote in our ongoing LIVE Twitter poll:
Would you be OK getting to Hollywood Studios at 5:30 in the morning, waiting hours for your boarding group only to see a ride with multiple animatronics not working? #RiseOfTheResistance

The first Kylo Ren one worked fine for us this a.m. We were in group 22.
I rode it opening day. I rode it for the second time a week later. After the room where Rey speaks, the door to the transport opened momentarily, and we could see people getting on the transport. Then it closed. And the entire sequence with BB8 and Rey repeated!
I don’t like this!
They’re still working out the bugs. We road it yesterday and lost about 4 minutes of the ride because of technical difficulties. They had to take us theough the back lot and the next thing you know we were in the in the first order star destroyer starting our interrogation. Then we got locked in the interrogation room. They’ll get the bugs fix eventually.
Only beef, you get blown into space not sucked.
