If you’ve been following the saga of the official grand opening of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance to the general public this morning, then you’re probably aware of the parking delays, boarding group activation, and of course, the lucky first ride evac. That’s right, we were among the very first guests to experience the state-of-the-art attraction when it opened this morning, but the ride broke down near the end, and we were evacuated off of the attraction…

Thankfully, guests who experience a ride evacuation receive a ride re-entry FastPass, and we were able to go back in and film the entire Rise of the Resistance experience––from queue, to preshow, to the ride––all glorious 22 minutes of the attraction. You can check out the full video embedded below:

For a look at what evacuation from the ride is like, you can check out that video here. And of course, don’t forget to check out all of the opening day merchandise that was released for the attraction!

  1. I didn’t realize they were going to make a version of “The Hall of Presidents” only using stormtroopers instead.

This seems about as exciting as The Hall of Presidents does. The storyline is confusing and there are characters in this that I just don’t care about. Is it so bad that I wanted Kool-aid Ran to find the location of the resistance base? The only other terrible thing Is that we get returned to Batuu (which is like being returned to Des Moines) – not very interesting.

Perhaps I’ll grow to love the ride but the
repeatability just doesn’t seem to be there.

  2. Initial Thoughts:

    1) There’s a large amount of walking through hallways during the actual ride.

    2) The Disney employees bring no life or believability to their characters.

    3) Impressive animatronic work on the Mon Calamari pilot.

    4) I really like the full-scale, Original Trilogy AT-ATs. That said, they’re a “blink and you missed it” part of the ride, and are used to poor affect.

    5) Where are R2 and 3PO?

    6) Overall, it’s interesting, but surprisingly bland.

    7) There isn’t enough to do at Galaxy’s Edge.
