Guests looking to use the monorail as transportation to EPCOT in the early morning hours should be advised that due to construction, the monorail opening is now delayed until 10:00 AM on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.

Construction officially began yesterday, with signage in place this morning at the Transportation and Ticket Center. (Do note that “construction” was what was officially noted in the internal announcement, but this could also just be routine maintenance.)

Guests walking up to the TTC can catch a view of the ongoing work, as two maintenance cars are currently out on the line servicing the beam.

The two maintenance cars include a tow car of materials and tools, plus a maintenance worker car outfitted with scaffolding on the sides so contractors can reach various angles of the monorail beam.

It is currently unknown what exact maintenance is being performed on the EPCOT monorail beam, be it electrical or merely aesthetic like pressure-washing the sides of the beam. There is no current end date for construction.

  1. Based on those last few pictures it looks like pressure washing the concrete is at least part of the work. The section with the scaffolding and the two guys working looks much nicer.

  2. The beam is certainly cleaner to the right of the maintenance vehicles, so it looks like pressure washing is at least part of it.
