Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Entrance Refurbishment Begins this Week

The entrance, or porte-cochère, of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is being refurbished starting this week. Areas under refurbishment include airline check-in, Disney Cruise Line, Disney’s Magical Express, and valet service.

Disney’s Magical Express luggage drop off/pickup area will be closed off to construct a new ramp. The valet kiosk will be moved to a new permanent location in the porte-cochère.

Disney Cruise Line service will temporarily move to the lobby of the resort by the Sunset Lounge during the porte-cochère refurbishment. The current valet kiosk will be closed to be transformed into the new airline check-in kiosk.

In March, work will begin on refurbishing the bell services kiosk in the lobby of the resort. During the work, bell services will be temporarily relocated near the front desk.

All work is scheduled to be completed by April 2020.

  1. Can you elaborate more on whether this will be interior work, exterior work, or both? I’m wondering if we should reconsider our DVC standard studio room request of “near lobby,” due to interior noise or exterior obstruction of the view. (We arrive on 2/17.) I’d appreciate your thoughts!
