With Mickey Shorts Theater opening this March alongside Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, progress on transforming the former Star Wars: Path of the Jedi theater in the park’s theater district continues, with new themed signage now installed inside.
A new Art Deco-style sign in red, yellow, and black has gone up at the entrance to the theater, just inside the entrance overhang. In the middle of the sign, we expect some sort of poster, marquee, or digital wait time sign of some sort to be installed as well. Just beyond that, we see the very ’90s style glass block wall remains intact.
As you can see from the artist concept rendering above, the red, yellow, and black color scheme is carried out on the inside of the theater as well. The interior of the theater will evoke the same wacky fun of the popular new Mickey Mouse cartoon series. Guests will get to see an original short titled “Vacation Fun” in this same style, plus have the chance to take pictures in front of special photo ops.
On the theater’s exterior, little change can be seen, but the surrounding area reeks of fresh paint, so there’s likely even more work being done inside.
Will you be passing by the Mickey Shorts Theater once it opens this March? I’m a quiet fan of passive activities like shows and theaters, and I’m sure this will become a popular respite for families in search of some down time (and air conditioning!)
