Friends forever, glad we’re all here together! That’s right, it’s Pixar Playtime one last time at Tokyo DisneySea! And that means not just special food, but food themed to beloved Pixar franchises!
Usually, Tokyo Disney Resort specializes in adorable character-themed foods with a great taste. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case. Sometimes they take an already disappointing dish and somehow make it worse. And that’s certainly the case here for the Sulley Chicken & Corn Bun. But at least the souvenir pouch is cool! Let’s take a closer look.
Sulley Chicken & Corn Bun – ¥500 ($4.57)
This thing looks cute. Really, it does. Plus the wrapping features a door with Sulley in it! And get a gander at that incredible souvenir pouch! We’ll get a closer look at that later.
It looks like Sulley’s fur! There’s even cute little purple spots, and it’s fairly Instagram worthy. Unfortunately, that’s where things go downhill.
It’s pretty much as bad as it looks inside. The chicken… mush is just bland. There’s nothing other than the heat that tells you you’re eating chicken. The corn inside also comes with a pretty terrible aftertaste. If you’re familiar with the famous (and delicious) gyoza dog, also at Tokyo DisneySea, imagine that with cream of corn soup inside. And not even good cream of corn soup. We were seriously disappointed with how this one turned out, especially considering we’re not huge fans of the Chandu Bun either.
Souvenir Pouch Add-On Item – ¥700 ($6.39)
On the bright side, if you get the bun, you can also pick up this cute pouch! Featuring the geometric shapes and silhouettes that characterize this year’s Pixar Playtime merchandise, you really can’t go wrong on this. It’s about the size of a pencil bag, perfect for holding your writing utensils or makeup, for example.
If you’re interested in trying the Sulley Chicken & Corn Bun for yourself for some reason, head on down to Sultan’s Oasis at Tokyo DisneySea through March 19. But beware, you may not like the results!
