The countdown is on for the upcoming Disney’s Hotel New York: The Art of Marvel to open its doors in Disneyland Paris this Summer. Tickets have been on sale for a few months now, and we have been closely following all the sneak peeks and snippets of information Disney has been teasing us with, in the run-up to the hotel’s debut.

This past week, two new videos have been released by Disneyland Paris, each featuring one of the artists who are working on pieces to be displayed in the hotel. As the name suggests, it is the artwork as much as the heroes themselves which will be celebrated throughout the hotel, and it has been really interesting to hear these two artists’ takes on what the resort will offer.

In this first video, artist Stephanie Hans gives us a look at an out-of this world Captain Marvel piece she has been working on for the hotel. Something particularly interesting which Hans explains in the video is how she believes Marvel can successfully integrate itself into what was already Disney’s Hotel New York. As she explains, many of the Marvel heroes are regular people living in cities such as New York City. So, by merging this real-life city with the imaginary power of Marvel, the characters in the comics are able to “live and evolve with the times”, whilst creating that co-existence of fantasy and reality which Disney is known for.

The second interview features British illustrator Liam Brazier, and an amazing Spider Man piece he is working on for the Spider Man Suite in the hotel. Brazier discusses how, through his art, he has been paying tribute to the 2-D origins of the Marvel comics. He also touches on the exciting notion that, through the hotel, Disney “really wanted to stress the artists behind the art”, which we imagine will make Disney’s Hotel New York: The Art of Marvel the ultimate gallery of Marvel artistry.

Have you got your reservations booked to stay at Disney’s Hotel New York: The Art of Marvel yet? Which characters are you most excited to see, immortalised in amazing artwork?

  1. I am a glass half full kind of guy, but this refurbishment does nothing for me. If the hotel were adjacent to the actual Marvel area at the DLP Studio park then I’d be more receptive to it; but it just looks like a California Adventure Take 1 attempt, only with a Disney themed resort. In general, Disney characters are used sparingly in the existing hotels, but this is just so “in your face”. I hope this doesn’t create a trend. The rumors of the Contemporary turning into an Incredibles themed hotel frighten me worse than Al-Qaeda did.
