Disneyland Paris Cast Member Tests Positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19)

With the spread of Coronavirus impacting more and more countries outside of Asia, it appears the first case of COVID-19 amongst Disneyland Paris cast members has been confirmed.

The BBC World news service reported this morning that a Disneyland Paris cast member has tested positive for the virus:

“A maintenance staff member at Disneyland Paris has tested positive for coronavirus.

The staff member tested positive over the weekend, a spokesman confirmed to Reuters news agency.

Disneyland Paris said it is checking on staff who had been in contact with the person.

The resort remains open.”

The worker is part of the nighttime maintenance team and has not been in contact with visitors; he has also since been hospitalized. Three other employees have been quarantined. There are no other cases at this time.

Due to rising concerns over transmission of the virus, France has established a temporary ban on gatherings of more than 1,000 people in a confined space. Disneyland Paris has yet to comment directly on the ban, but many guests have taken to social media concerned about their upcoming trips. Disneyland Paris has, however, commented on the park’s heightened sanitation measures out of precaution for the outbreak.

Shanghai Disneyland, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Tokyo Disney Resort have all closed in response to the Coronavirus outbreak.

We’ll keep our eyes on developments here in Paris as well as in Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong regarding the COVID-19 outbreak’s effect on Disney Parks operations.
