As a result of the growing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Disneyland Resort, including Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, closed to guests the morning of March 14. We spent the entire day at Disneyland to enjoy the parks’ last day of operation until April 1, or further. There was a calm, but eerie atmosphere in Disneyland, with guests and Cast Members taking many safety precautions.

Around 9:30 am, the Mickey and Friends parking structure did not have many guests lined up at security.

Once passing through the metal detector, we were welcomed by a hand sanitizer station. Many of these have been placed around the parks to promote personal hygiene.

Trams stayed stalled in the station for longer than usual as they were waiting to have a decent amount of guests onboard before departing.

While this has already been an emotional few days, the dreary weather did not help. It rained off and on all day.

The entrance to Disneyland had no lines to get in.

Fantasyland

Once we entered the park, we noticed many attractions were temporarily closed. The Matterhorn, Mad Tea Party, and Gadget’s Go Coaster were all down due to the weather conditions.

Fantasyland felt very quiet without the teacups spinning all day.

Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride had some beautiful purple flowers hanging from the outside canopy.

This is my favorite time of year in the parks due to all of the flowers blossoming.

Pinocchio’s Daring Journey had a 5-minute wait.

Mickey’s Toontown

As we entered Mickey’s Toontown, we noticed the very hard-to-miss crane looming over the area. This is in preparation for the West Coast edition of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

This project will also include cleaning up Toontown a bit. Mickey’s house is now having an exterior refurbishment.

There is no specific date for the completion of this exterior refurbishment.

The Mickey meet and greet was less than 15 minutes, so we decided to pop in and say hello while we still could.

As stated earlier, Gadget’s Go Coaster remained closed for most of the day due to the rain.

Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin was also temporarily closed during the day. At first, we thought this might have been due to the contact of the wheels on the Lenny the Cab vehicles, but it ended up opening later in the day.

Tomorrowland

The monorail was having some technical difficulties today as well. It sat in the Downtown Disney Station for about 20 minutes around noon before departing to Tomorrowland.

Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters had a longer wait than most of the other attractions today, sitting at 25 minutes. This surprised us due to the touch feature of the guns on the attraction.

Space Mountain had a 40-minute wait, but the single riders line was empty.

New Orleans Square

New Orleans Square was unsettling as there were barely any guests exploring the street of Louisiana.

The Rivers of America sat peacefully.

Pirates of the Caribbean was a 5-minute wait around 1:00 pm. We decided to head over to Disney California Adventure during this time and returned around 7:00 pm.

Even later in the day, Pirates of the Caribean was still a 5-minute wait.

Haunted Mansion is still under refurbishment. Due to the rain, the scrim was lowered.

Critter Country

Splash Mountain also had no wait. The weather didn’t help.

One final splashdown for a few guests.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh had many guests waiting to ride.

The pathway along the Rivers of America by Hungry Bear was empty, minus a few guests.

Galaxy’s Edge

“How brave…  but ultimately hopeless.” Rise of The Resistance was closed at 9:00 pm.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run was a 15-minute wait at 9:00 pm.

Frontierland

The old west wasn’t very lively. Pathways haven’t looked this empty in a long time.

A few guests made their way over to Fantasyland.

Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante closed early. It was starting to kick in that we only had a couple of hours left in the park.

New Orleans Square

New Orleans Square was a little bit busier at night.

“See it in your mind, and you can find, in your imagination, mysteries, and magic, visions fantastic, leading to strange and wondrous dreams.” The 9:00 pm Fantasmic! showing had a pretty good amount of people waiting. This show was an energy booster. Many guests were emotional, but it brought many smiles and cheers.

Guests flooded over to Main Street to see Mickey’s Mix Magic projections.

New Orleans Square is always very calming at night. A few people were boarding the train for a final ride around Disneyland.

Fantasyland

At 11:00 pm, Peter Pan’s Flight was a 30-minute wait.

As midnight approached, guests made their way to the front of the park.

Stay safe, Monstro.

The pathways on the left side of the castle were lit up beautifully.

Toontown

We wanted to come back to Toontown to see if Roger Rabbit’s Cartoon Spin and Gadget’s Go Coaster were open. Both were.

“Don’t worry, I’ll get you through this, I promise!” Thank Roger, see you soon.

At least Pluto is prepped for his break.

From the top of Gadget’s Go Coaster, we got to see Toontown from above.

Toontown Cast Members wished us a good night as we exited.

Central Plaza

Sleeping Beauty Castle looked beautiful as always.

Many guests sat around Sleeping Beauty Castle and Central Plaza to take a few pictures and enjoy the atmosphere.

Even right before midnight, most people were gathering at the front of the park.

In front of Main Street Station, Disneyland’s President, Rebecca Campbell, chatted with Cast Members and Guests.

Before we exited the park, we made sure to stop by the Disneyland Fire Department. Walt’s light still shined bright from his apartment.

Between 1:00 am-2:00 am, the last few guests made their way out.
