While a vast majority of construction at the Walt Disney World Resort has halted because of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, sites operated by third parties have continued operation, so we recently took a drive by the site of Flamingo Crossings to see how things have progressed.
Our first stop was along Flagler Avenue, where many of the complex’s hotels will be located.
Hotels from major chains like Holiday Inn Resort and Hyatt will be located here, according to permits.
Compared to our last visit, it looks like this building has more work completed on the top floors.
When completed, Flamingo Crossings will be a great area for locals and budget-conscious visitors.
Could that building in the back be a parking garage?
Also in the roster of hotels is a Hampton Inn and Suites.
Meanwhile, permits suggest that this orange building seen above will be home to a Homewood Suites.
Above is the intersection of Flagler Avenue and Flamingo Crossing Boulevard.
Not only will there be hotels and shops, but people will be able to live closer to the magic with apartment complexes. Here, we see The Westerly under construction. A rendering of the finished complex can be seen on the construction fencing.
Flamingo Crossings will also be home to new housing for the Disney College Program, which you can see some of in the photo above. These seem to be much further along than the hotels.
As we stated in our last report, the College Program housing will be known as Flamingo Crossings Village.
Work on these apartment-style buildings seems to also be moving along nicely.
Here’s another look at College Program housing. Hopefully, the next class of magic makers will call this home soon.
With hotels, apartments, and housing, the future is very much in progress at Flamingo Crossings.
