Big changes are happening at Walt Disney World proper, but there are also big changes happening on the outskirts of property, too. Right on the western edge of property, Flamingo Crossings has been the latest construction site for new hotels and retail offerings, including the new Target store (complete with Disney Store in Target) opening in 2021 that was announced at D23 this weekend:

New permits have been filed today for the Flamingo Crossings Town Center shopping area, giving us a bit more insight as to what we can expect to be popping up there in the coming years.

Flamingo Crossings is already a busy section of Central Florida, but with all this recent development, it’s sure to increase traffic and revenue flow for the city.

Town Place Suites and SpringHill Suites are the first two lodging establishments to be completed as part of this updating of Flamingo Crossings.

As shown above, next to the SpringHill Suites, a new Hampton Inn and Suites and Homewood Suites will be joining these in the near future.

Though hotels aren’t the only thing to be added to this development. Walgreens Pharmacy and a Speedway gas station will be added as well. Walgreens and Speedways are pretty popular around street corners surrounding Disney property, so it’s not much of a surprise to see these making a new home here as well.

The future apartments that were announced last March are also on these permits.

As you can see, a lot of development is in the works for Flamingo Crossings to turn into the future of Town Center. Make sure to keep checking back to WDWNT for the latest Flamingo Crossings updates.

  1. I had to look up where Flamingo Crossing is located. Assuming I have the correct area, is that side of 429 a part of Disney World proper, or is it Disney World adjacent?

  2. A little surprised that a Target would go there.

There is already one less than 4 miles to the South and gets a lot of traffic being on Hwy 192.

  3. Could you link your source for the Target at FCTC “that was announced at D23” ? I have a hard time believing with their new 4 million dollar super store opened recently at the next exit south at 192 that they would be building another Target less than two miles away.
