Construction Work Begins at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Ahead of NBA Arrival

Yesterday it was officially announced that the NBA would be heading to Walt Disney World to finish their 2019-20 season playing at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Of course, this means bringing players to the Walt Disney World Resort and needing housing for all of the players and their guests. Players are expected to be staying in the Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs, the Yacht Club, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Ahead of their arrival, it seems construction has begun at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa for the NBA. Thanks for our friend on Twitter, @ScottGustin, we’re able to provide you images of the construction work.

Above we’re seeing construction crews begin to add fencing around areas of the resort, to create the “bubble,” we’ve heard so much about. This is to keep players and their guests safe, along with the Cast Members working at the resorts.

Along with this, players will not have access to the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks and dining will be provided by the team’s private chefs and the Walt Disney World culinary staff.

Are you excited to see the NBA coming to the Walt Disney World Resort? Sound off in the comments below.

  1. I think it’s a good economic plan for Disney. I could not care less if the NBA is there or not. Especially since WDW has screwed up our Premium Annual Passes so much. We still can’t make reservations to go to a park, 2 days after it was to be available to Passholders. And it isn’t fixable acording to CMs.

  2. It’s great that the NBA is getting to finish the season by coming to Disney. The only problem is that there are some cast members that are not gonna have a job now and it’s directly because of the NBA coming. Those players could go the rest of the year without a paycheck and be fine being that they make millions but some of us Disney cast members rely on our paychecks every week and now we won’t get one until at least September. It sure would be nice if the NBA could compensate the ones of us that will be out of a job of its due to them being here.

  3. NO NOT EXCITED!!!! THEY ARE TAKING UP SPACE THAT ALL OF US REPEAT CUSTOMERS THAT ONLY GO THERE ARE BEING NEGATIVELY AFFECTED !!!
