Disneyland Paris Shares Look at Construction on Former Catastrophe Canyon as it Transforms to “Cars” Route 66 Road Trip

It was revealed back in 2019 that the Studio Tram Tour attraction located at the back of the Walt Disney Studios Park in Disneyland Paris was set to be reimagined as the Cars Route 66 Road Trip ride. As part of the new experience, guests can buckle up and join Cars stars Lightning McQueen and Mater for a fun-filled family road trip where they’ll discover natural and mechanical wonders along the legendary Route 66.

As such, the impressive rock-face Catastrophe Canyon scene from the former Studio Tram Tour will be transformed to feature a DINOCO tower, oil pump, and a truck.

Concept art of the overlay was recently released, displaying an oil truck who looks surprisingly happy despite the cascading floods and huge cliff fire.

The Cars Route 66 attraction was originally scheduled to debut this summer, however this has inevitably been delayed due to the lengthy park closures.

Construction is set to resume on numerous projects across Disneyland Paris this week, including Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art Of Marvel, Disney Junior Dream Factory, Avengers Campus and, of course, Cars Route 66 Road Trip.

How refreshing to see a representation of a beautiful and tranquil American Southwestern landscape being spoiled by abandoned Oil Drums and Pump Jacks. Good thing they will be adding to the effect with a Fuel Tanker Truck driving through the scene as nature burns. So environmentally conscientious of Disney…

Will this be just an overlay that you’ll still ride on a tram, or are they putting in the same ride system track as they have at Cars Land where you’ll be in cars?
