PHOTOS: A Look at Astro Orbiter as the Magic Kingdom Reopens with New Social Distancing Queue and Elevator Procedures

Ready your spacecraft and prepare to lift off with Astro Orbiter in Tomorrowland! We have been giving everyone in-depth looks at all the new health and safety procedures throughout Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom this week, from the Tomorrowland Speedway to Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress. Now, let’s take a look at how Astro Orbiter’s queue has been altered in order to follow social distancing guidelines.

At Astro Orbiter, you can be the pilot of your own spacecraft! Use a lever inside to control how high you fly above guests in Tomorrowland.

Entering the queue on the ground level, you can see the green and white floor markers, spacing groups apart before they space out on their ships. The markers are all six feet from each other. However, since this queue has switch-backs, some markers in the row you are standing in will be more than 6 feet ahead of you. This is to maintain social distancing between not only those in the row you are standing in but the rows to your left and right as seen in the above picture.

A hand sanitizer dispenser is there for you at the elevators along with a Cast Member to guide you up to the Rocket Platform via these elevators. Gone are the days when multiple parties would have to squeeze inside. The biggest change is that now only one party can board the elevators at a time.

Another hand sanitizer dispenser awaits guests at the top of the elevators. A lovely view of Space Mountain can be seen to the right.

Guests stand at the floor markers before getting ready to blast off.

Once you have finished piloting your spacecraft around those beautiful planets and are ready to return to the ground, you will queue to the left. Make sure to wait for your elevator at those familiar social distancing markers.

How much are you looking forward to seeing Tomorrowland again from above as you pilot your own ship? Let us know in the comment section below!
