Work has begun on the illuminated canopy above the exterior portion of the new TRON Lightcycle / Run roller coaster at the Magic Kingdom. We saw pieces installed and waiting for installation a few days ago. Now the canopy is further taking shape.
From Storybook Circus, we could see a large crane over the coaster’s entrance into “The Grid.”
Several other pieces of machinery are pointed in that direction, so it seems work is being done on the show building.
Meanwhile, several pieces of the illuminated canopy have been put together at the side.
While this is just the base structure, you can see how this part of the canopy will curve.
This piece was being worked on last time we checked, but it has not been installed yet.
The brown supports for the canopy the are only temporary while it is being installed.
Additional white supports and canopy pieces have been added to this low portion. You can see it curving in on itself to the left.
For reference, here is what the illuminated canopy looks like from inside TRON Lightcycle Power Run in Shanghai Disneyland.
TRON Lightcycle / Run is set to be completed in 2021, barring any further delays. The Magic Kingdom guidemap does declare the coaster is “Now Programming” which indicates that Disney is planning on opening it sooner rather than later.
