PHOTOS, REVIEW: Ale & Compass Restaurant at Yacht Club Returns with Walt Disney World’s Best Breakfast You Didn’t Even Know About

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort has finally reopened to the public, so it’s time to once again set sail for breakfast at Ale & Compass Restaurant! The restaurant is open every day for breakfast from 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM.

Before we get to the morning morsels, let’s take a look at the new safety precautions in place. As you walk up to the restaurant, there are Health & Safety signs, plus plexiglass mounted on the podium for the host stand. The restaurant participates in both the Mobile Dine Check-In and the Mobile Dine Walk-Up Waitlist service. Wait times were estimated at 5 minutes for a party of 4—it’s typically a very quiet location, making for somewhat of a hidden gem.

Ale & Compass Restaurant – New Seating Arrangements

Like at other restaurants around Walt Disney World, select tables have been made unavailable to maintain social distancing.

Arrows on the floor work to keep a singular flow of traffic throughout the restaurant, when possible.

Ale & Compass Restaurant – Menu and Food

A sheet of paper with a QR code directs guests to the menu, which can be viewed on the Walt Disney World website or My Disney Experience. But now, it’s time to eat!

Salt and pepper are served in tiny dishes so guests, as the shakers themselves have been removed from tables.

Dark Chocolate Waffle – $13.00

Dried Cherry Compote, Espresso-Mascarpone Cream, Chocolate Shavings, and a choice of Sausage or Bacon

This longtime staple of the Captain’s Grille still brings chocolaty goodness to Ale & Compass. The waffles were thick and fluffy, with a strong milk chocolate flavor.

The waffles and chocolate shavings were well contrasted by the mascarpone cheese, making the dish not as overly sweet as we expected it to be.

Everything in this dish was well-balanced, making it a solid breakfast option.

Normally, this comes with a choice of sausage or bacon, but we were able to substitute for a cup of fresh fruit instead, which came with chunks of pineapple, strawberries, and blueberries.

Blueberry-Bacon Pancakes –  $14.00

with choice of Sausage, Bacon, or fresh Fruit

Because these pancakes are so thick, they’re stuffed with real chunks of bacon and whole blueberries. We tasted notes of lemon, or zesty citrus throughout the pancakes themselves, but it worked nicely in contrast with the berries and bacon.

These pancakes were seriously thick and hearty, to the point where we almost couldn’t finish them.

We got a side of thick-cut bacon with the pancakes. It can be a bit of bacon overload, but if you’re a hardcore bacon lover, you can have bacon both inside and out. It’s a hearty way to start your day!

All in all, we had a great breakfast at Ale & Compass and are delighted to see that it’s reopened with the same great guest-favorite menu items and fantastic service.

Of course, if you’re someone who has trouble getting out of bed in the morning, you can also have breakfast in your room with the return of In-Room Dining! Keep reading WDWNT as we continue to explore what’s new at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort!
