With Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort not reopening until Summer 2021, work on the resort’s Great Ceremonial House is set to begin next week, on September 28.

The refurbishment process will begin next Monday, with the front desk will be relocated to a temporary area at the Pago Pago building, and the front arrival entrance unavailable to guests. Access to the Great Ceremonial House will be via the side and back entrance only.

Construction will be taking place at the resort Sunday through Thursday starting at 10:00 PM nightly. The building may have to be closed off to guests to accommodate for work starting at 10:00 PM.

Monorail service at this resort will be temporarily suspended beginning in early October 2020, with the monorail station itself closing on November 2, 2020.

Kona Cafe, Moana Mercantile, Tambu Lounge, and Pineapple Lanai will all have modified hours beginning October 4, but will remain open. Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows will remain open for guests while the rest of the resort’s rooms receive a Moana-themed makeover. It’s unknown whether the Moana theme will carry over to the Great Ceremonial House, and if so, to what degree.

  1. More infusion of IP for the sake of organic theming. Unnecessary and foolish to spend that time and money on something guests do NOT want.
