Country Singer Jason Aldean Posts Maskless Family Photo at Walt Disney World, Sparking Discussion About Mask Enforcement in the Parks

Country music singer Jason Aldean shared a picture of himself and his family at Disney’s Animal Kingdom this week in which none of them are wearing masks.

Walt Disney World’s face covering guidelines state “Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) and Cast Members. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them at all times, except when dining or swimming. You may remove your face covering while actively eating or drinking, but you should be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing.”

Maskless photos (outside of Relaxation Stations) are not allowed at Walt Disney World as they could still pose a threat to safety.

After backlash, Aldean deleted the photo from social media, but not before responding to some angered fans. He replied to one tweet, “Chill out lady. They are in our pocket. We took them off for 5 seconds to take the pic. Believe me, Disney didn’t give us a ‘free pass’ not to wear them. We had them on all day just like everybody else.”

One of his daughters is visibly holding a mask. His youngest daughter is under the age of 2, so not required to wear one.

Discussion broke out about the enforcement or lack thereof of Walt Disney World’s face mask rules. Many were particularly concerned about a celebrity getting away with not wearing a face mask for a picture, while regular guests could be removed from the park for the same thing. It’s also possible Aldean and his family were with a VIP tour guide Cast Member, who should not have allowed them to remove the masks.

    • Do you often have that trouble telling relative age difference from appearance? Is your excuse to cops that you thought the fourteen yr old was 30something?

    • His wife is clearly the one wearing the sunglasses 🕶 to the right of him, all the others are kids dunno if they are all his maybe nieces not sure 🤔

    • Your comment truly deserves no response, but I’ll bite the bullet and ask… WHY?? Whatever your issue is and whatever you’re mad at, take that crap somewhere else!!! What made you think it was even ok to ask something that involves CHILDREN?!?! And who even asks a rhetorical, classless question like that anyway!!!

  1. Man, the mask police just don’t stop! He was right to respond the way he did. The mandate is ridiculous enough, now we have people purposely trolling others on social media.

I was harassed last week in CVS for taking down my mask under my nose…I was in a pretty much empty store in an aisle with NOBODY around me. This craziness has to stop. It’s all political anyway.

    • Do you believe in law and order? Do you get upset when you see people on the news doing something illegal? Do you think you have a double standard?

    • I agree! People need to be concerned with what they are doing and leave others alone. If you are THAT worried about contracting the virus stay home!!! You don’t know if some one has a reason to not wear one. I also don’t think many people were able to get close to Mr. Aldean.

    • I agree!!! Who wants to ruin a gorgeous photo when there’s clearly nobody around!!! And I’m a cancer survivor and had covid late July! I’m an avid Disney fan and traveler who has yet to travel during covid. Waiting until after Christmas. Our December cruise was canceled….but the rule of keeping that on in 100 degree weather even on water rides is insane if there is nobody near you, you should be able to drop the mask. But I do get it completely! Safely is priory! I just hope this nightmare ends soon!

  2. I have not listened to his music and barely know who he is, but the optics is bad. You may not have been given a pass by Disney, but you broke the rules anyway. So, “chill out lady” is the attitude of people I personally witnessed in the parks for the past two weeks from Oct 12-22. I’ve had a family stand within three feet of me in line for space ranger spin then the eldest teenage son wedge himself between myself and his mother the next closest. Notices literally everywhere including by audio to follow the rules and what they are and people were walking eating and drinking while walking and at Epcot they started eating and drinking dropping their masks in the middle of the main path between pavilions. I’m not neurotic about the virus, but it’s not hard to follow the rules to the letter.

    • That’s the problem right there. A lot of people are not following the rules at all. In the photo, it seems all the rules are being followed. All so in the photo, it looks like they found a day where the crowd is really low for the park. I’ve been watching youtubers that are local with their vedioes of the parks their in Orlando Fl. So? You kinda have to take all thing into consideration here.

    • Children are children they don’t always listen. If you are going to a place with children you have to be understanding that it is not germ free. So if you can’t handle germs you have no business being in a place for children.

  3. And it’s people like him that will lead us to be stuck in this pandemic for much longer. But muh muh freedom

    • And it’s people like you that are making this okay and will be the reason why the masks will never go away because of the “new norm”. So keep wearing your mask, and we won’t so it looks like we are at a stand still 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • No chill out! Peoples feedom to take a pic wout a mask will not burden others so chill out stop judegement behavior and realize you less than.01 pecent to die and have still over 99 percent recovwry rate. If your sick old or have a illness than your right is to stay home thats is far fewer those to stay home than those who should go out fine

  4. Cast members cannot be everywhere. They are laying them off left and right. Disney is doing the best they can but guests have to pick up the slack and do the right thing.

    • People need to really mind there own business! What does it matter if they wear a mask. As long as u wear yours your safe right?!?! Do they realize the survival rate is 96% just unbelievable how people over react about this virus.

    • That’s the thing, how many people would do this exact thing if the opportunity arised for them at the parks like this did for him and his family. It’s not like some cast members was aware of it seeing their in the picture as well.

  5. Were they in a relaxation area?

If not then NO the rules apply to everyone.

For him to say”chill out last”is an elitist thing to say.

Who is he to tell people to chill out when he breaks the rules. In this day of Trump where people think rules are for everybody else, he’s an asshat

    • I do, yeah. And so did pretty much everyone else I saw there. Because if you’re a decent person you’ll respect the rules you agreed to when you entered the park.

  6. I know from experience that when you get a family photo that the photographer will ask if you want a no mask photo.

  7. To Jason Aldean: To Jason Aldean: Tens of thousands have safely visited WDW complying with all safety protocols including hundreds of military families. Obviously rules such as do not remove your masks even for photos don’t apply to you. Hopefully DISNEY CORP. will no loner use you for any further business dealings or appearances!

  8. Looks like the Mom and older daughter have their masks in their upper righthand pocket.

Do you really want your (2020) family vacation pictures with masks on?

Seem important now, but in the future…

    Also, no one is around.

  9. Would consider it’s like just drinking water. outdoor, just pausing. Not like they took off mask entire time, indoor, or on the ride…

    • Can we remove masks for PhotoPass?
No. Per Walt Disney World policy, these photographers are not allowed to take your photo while mask-less.”

BTW: The virus doesn’t “take a break, people”

  10. This story is ridiculous… first off you can see face mask in the picture… signifying that they were wearing mask and more than likely took them off for the picture…. I wear a mask everywhere I go and I have been to different zoos and parks. We have taken pictures with and without mask. That doesnt mean we never put them on. Often times the employees of the zoo or parks would tell us we could take the mask off for the picture if we wanted. Let’s not make this a big deal. To Jason and his family, thanks for music hope you all enjoyed your time at Disney.

  11. Time to frighten chill out people. Omg. If you really think being maskless is going to KILL you then lock away in your basement forever. Laughable that a CLOTH face covering does anything other than safety theater.

  12. There’s no one around them and it’s a photo, come on folks, you don’t know if they just took them off for the photo.

  13. I have been to Disney World a handful of times since opening back up. It was extremely strict the first 2 months but now it’s a little more relaxed with more people going in the park. They can’t keep track of that many people as they did when it 1st opened back up.

  14. My family of 6 was there in August and staff very politely reminded us to wear our masks whenever we let them down. That being said this picture shows the family no where near anyone else and we should believe him when he said they took them down for a quick picture.

  15. They are not near anyone. If you are social distanced, i dont understand why you cant take it off for 5-10 seconds for a quick picture and then put them back on.

  16. I agree with his “Chill out” comment. I’m sure the Disney mask police where on top of it as they were when we were there. The mask shaming is OVER THE TOP!

  17. We are at Walt Disney World and I would like to say that the Disney casts are constantly reminding people to wear their mask/wear them properly. You can no longer walk around eating or drinking and not have a mask on. I’m surprised they were able to take a picture without their masks.

  18. I was just at Epcot last Saturday and I can assure you that they are extremely strict about their mask policy. I had to be told several times to pull my mask over my nose.. so there’s that

  19. We were there in August and we took pictures without our masks then out them back on. Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom have a very good mask policies but they are not going to hammer you if you are off to the side away from others taking a picture. If you can sit in a restaurant with other you can stand outside in 20 mph wind for 45 seconds without a mask. Much ado about nothing. I wouldn’t characterize WDW as soft on mask policy. They have an outstanding health and safety policy which has kept hundreds of thousands of people safe over the last few months. I for one can’t wait until November and December when we go back for the holidays.

  20. Other folks have been asked to leave the park for not wearing masks. Why do they have special privileges? His response is nonsense. The park specifically says masks at all times. That includes everyone.

  21. Many people at Disney remove the mask for photos…if caught, they must remask immediately. Disney doesn’t allow anyone to remove their masks, but employees can’t be with everyone 100% of the time. There are employees near the castle that do nothing but run up to people to demand they put their mask back on. Disney photographers won’t take pics of people without masks.

  22. I absolutely agree with the backlash, it’s not acceptable that people can be ejected or banned for breaking the rule, but he’s seeing no consequences because he’s a celebrity. The mask rule is there for a reason, and it needs to be equally enforced for everyone.

  23. Why would they even consider a photo without masks?? That’s just bad form. I’m glad they got called out. We don’t need anyone, celebrity or otherwise, normalizing maskless outings.

  24. When I was at the parks a few weeks ago, I saw people being allowed to take off their masks at photo spots where the Disney photographers were taking pictures. The photographers were about 12 feet away and all other guest were farther. They were made to put their masks back on before leaving the photo spot. I’d say that’s acceptable, as long as mask come off just before and go back on just after the picture.

  25. Absolutely ridiculous. This mask thing is getting out of control. People should be able to step aside from others and take photos without masks. This does not pose a threat to anyone. Common sense has gone completely out the window with Disney’s mask rules. It’s all about appeasing the media as they would cause a scene if Disney removed the mask mandate. The majority of people don’t care and would still come to Disney World even if masks were not mandated. We are going in three weeks and will be taking the stupid masks off for family photos. Last I checked this was still America.

  26. “Chill out lady… I’m famous and made a personal choice to break the rules that I was fully aware of because I actually referenced them in my eye rolling response.” Entitlement. To. The. Max.

It’s so convenient to be dismissive, rich, and have a huge online presence to show how to have a good ol time by saying breakin’ the rules just a little bit it is okay if it’s only for a little bit.

Glad he made this public for people to know his name to make personal choices (that don’t absolutely encourage others to unnecessarily endanger others in public) about $upporting him.

  27. Omg seriously, I don’t know who they are but I don’t see the big deal they probably just took mask off for the picture…..get over it.

  28. In Vegas, they do the same thing when posing for a paid family picture while the photographer wears a mask. It truly is ONLY for the picture, or while drinking or eating at outdoor restaurant patio. The public outrage needs to stop looking at this out of context. I guess that’s what it means when they say “you had to be there”.

  29. This is so dumb. They are focusing on this only because he is a celebrity. Anybody and everybody removes their masks for a quick photo. Stop clutching your pearls and get on with your life.

  30. They must have had another guest take it because when I went last month they were very strict. I was even eating while walking to ride and told I had to stop walking and move to side of walkway while I ate with mask pulled down. I saw Cast members tell other guests multiple times to pull mask over the nose or face if people had them down and didn’t see them allowing any photos without them.

  31. Good for him! There was no one around them. What would be the difference if they were actively eating or this? It’s not a video of them running through the park maskless.

  32. Aldean could have avoided all of the drama if he had just kept the family photo to himself. Why post it to social media during these polarized times?

  33. Everyone just calm down! It is clear they just took them off for the picture. Did you actually look at the picture?? The one that is holding the baby still has her mask in her hand. Come on left media, let’s make a big deal about absolutely nothing once again.

  34. Granit they have a mask policy . But they live together and are also 6 feet from everyone else .

  35. Awesome! I am happy to see that Americans can actually enjoy their day outside or anywhere without succumbing to mask-enforcing dim-wits. You have a great family that will grow up with American values. When I see thousands of these stupid mask articles complaining about mask free Disney attendees then I wwill probably consider going back myself.

  36. Who cares they took their mask off for 10 seconds while standing pretty much alone outside with their family, and the other people not even 6 ft near them. Most everyone does for a pic or just to breath regularly.

  37. I wish everyone would calm down about the facemask. I seem to remember back when it first opened, WDW said that people would be allowed to take their mask off just long enough for a family photo because who wants to visit and get a family photo with everyone in masks.
Even if that wasn’t the case, what is wrong with a few seconds that everyone is posed then; rips the masks off, and immediately puts them back on after the photo. No one should be near them except the photographer(6 feet away). No harm and no special treatment.
I personally wish that everyone would stop being afraid and start living life normally again. Covid isn’t going away and everyone is going to have to learn to live with it, without fear just like with every other virus we have had come through.

  38. You can clearly see that the girl on the left, holding the child, has a mask in her hand? People are aweful

  39. I am very, very cautious about all of this and am very worried that people are not taking this serious, and no one should be above any rules, especially a celebrity, but I don’t really get too much why people are making it a big deal. They are clearly far from anyone else in the area. If they were in a crowd I would be upset, but just for a moment to take a family picture? Maybe I’m not reasonable, but I don’t think people should get that upset.

  40. I’ve been at the MK on days when we where shoulder to shoulder these days with the reduced number of visitors you can find times that there’s one one with in a hundred feet.
When no one is within a stone’s throw social distancing goes out the window and common sense should kick in.
We’ve been on the Disney bus last month from the MK to Riverside alone just three people, if you think we wore our mask your crazy.

  41. Everybody takes off their mask for a photo. There’s nobody else around except for family members. All you Karen’s need to get off your high horse . Only reason any things being said it’s because of his celebrity status.

  42. Not that I approve, but they’re definitely not the first group of Disney guests to do that. He just got called out bc he’s a public figure, capable of influence.

  43. Disney is over zealous on its mask-always policy, whether anyone is near you or not. Their employees will run across the park to remind you that even though you are not within 100 feet of another person, your mask must cover both your mouth and nose. It removes a lot of magic. I do not blame this family one bit for grabbing a quick picture.

  44. Sad lives to be angered because he is in the spotlight. And wanted a family photo, then gets backlash because some people thinks he got special treatment.I doubt he had any intentions of taking the pic with thoughts he was getting by with somethibg others weren’t.I look forward to seeing you in concert again when all this virus routine is over.Stay safe people.

  45. Ridiculous! So they removed their masks for a family photo with no one close by or around. Are you turning into the, Mask Gestapo? You’re a trouble maker. Please leave people alone! Unless you are on Disney’s payroll, you should just go and have happy, magical day!

  46. We kept our masks all the time at the parks even for pictures. I hope it wasn’t a cast member who took the picture. I’d also be pissed if Aldean pressured the cast member and the cast member didn’t want to make a scene with a celebrity.

  47. Trust me they had masks. We were just there. Staff members swarm you the second you remove the mask unless you are eating. Just freeze in place and eat. We also snuck in a quick photo w/o a mask. Same as freeze and eat unless you believe the virus can tell the difference.

  48. I work in the Magic Kingdom. People do remove there masks for quick photos, but no one is walking around without masks. If they are, it won’t be for long. Now are they wearing them correctly…maybe 50%-70%. That said there have not been any outbreaks traced back to any of the theme parks, so far. Also, I have been back at work for 2.5 months and feel safe. If you wear your mask properly and social distance I do believe you can go safely. I was very worried before going back. I even took my own family! I do recommend bringing back up masks, because it rains most days and one wet, the masks are ineffective and you have to keep wearing it wet …yuck!

  49. He should definitely be reprimanded! My family and I just got back from Disney world 5 days ago and my very capable 2 year old politely wore a mask the entire time with no fits and she certainly didn’t take it off for a photo op!! It was against the rules and was written everywhere on campus!! Also over the loud speaker. Being a celebrity does not make you resistant to the law!!!

  50. Now if they just had apples in their hands all would be legal with the covid Gestapo! Let’s not use our brains to comprehend they are outside and “socially distant” from others… 🤦‍♂️

  51. Disney has clearly posted signs stating guests not properly wearing approved masks will be asked to leave the park. They should have been escorted out of Animal Kingdom immediately after posting this photograph.

  52. Oh no they dared to not wear a mask we are all gonna die, like get over yourselves people, this disease is highly contagious yes, but the death rate for people without secondary conditions is insanely low, like lower then the flu death rate.

  53. So my wife and I were at Universal Studios yesterday and taking photos with characters that were social distanced were to team members advised us as long as we stayed in the social distance box clearly labeled on the ground we could remove our mask for the photo. Big props to Universal for having a team member there to coordinate social distancing and direct the guests. BTW anyone going to the parks as much as the mask policy is uncomfortable the fact that we visited Universal Studios, Volcano bay, and Islands of Adventure all in one day and never felt crowded or encroached on by other guests was fantastic! Jason Aldean I’m sure Universal Studios would welcome you, your family and your fan base, I can’t personally speak for them, but you get the idea!

  54. We went to Disney in July and we were told we couldn’t take our masks off for pictures not even could pull the mask down for quick snap ,so seeing that a celebrity and his family are allowed is very disappointing, 🤨rules are rules EVERYONE should be made to follow them,

  55. That is the pettiest thing I’ve ever heard they want to dissect your life and pull it apart and see every little second of it and then when you be nice and you let them share and say a picture of you and your family having a good time and they get their panties in a wad! you go Jason,

  56. First of all, if the masks really worked the numbers would not continue to climb. Second, if you go inside a restaurant you are allowed to remove mask at your table. So how is this so terrible that he and his family stand alone and have a 10 second photo without a mask? He’s only human! Maybe he was so happy to see Mickey that he forgot!

  57. Just so I understand… If you are famous or just don’t want to follow the rules you can ignore them and do whatever you want?

  58. This worry will soon be in the past with the vaccine and real medical facts coming out everyday. If you’re at risk don’t go to Disney and most are 99.6% safe

  59. Just returned from Disney World and the only mask less photo from photo pass was taken of our backs. Not one photographer offered or mentioned taking one with a mask off. Disney is reviewing all ride photos and won’t release any with any person in the photo with a mask off. They are doing a good job keeping spacing and masks on.

  60. I think they should wear it when they want to . Especially when taking a picture you should take it off for a minute not hurting anybody else. Grow up lady

  61. Here is the interesting thing, one of his older daughters is holding her mask which you can see. The other older daughter appears to have something she is holding bunched up in her hand. Oh, there is also a couple of cast members in the photo behind them. Not to mention that there is no one around them at all when they take the photo. As well as the fact that they are stationary in one spot to take the photo. Oh by the way, no one looks like the are touching anything that requires any concern. I know that my family as well as many other people would do the same thing if this opportunity presented itself. We all know even the fans that had a negative comment would so do it to.

  62. Ridiculous… WDW is a magical place! Where adults can be kids and no one thinks twice about it. This family is full of smiles and we still, NO, SOME OF Y’ALL, still find something to complain about!!

  63. Did anyone stop to think they took them off just to get a picture!!! I don’t see anyone that close ! People want pics with out masks !!!!
