Entire “Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor” Show Cast and Crew Laid Off at Walt Disney World

In addition to the Citizens of Hollywood, more devastating news of layoffs has surfaced at Walt Disney World, this time impacting another group of immensely talented stand-up comedians and performers. According to multiple sources, the entire “Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor” cast and crew has been laid off at the Magic Kingdom amidst another wave of entertainment cutbacks.

The show has remained shuttered at the Magic Kingdom since the reopening of the park, with segments of its queue repurposed for physically-distanced lines leading up to the adjacent Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin attraction in Tomorrowland.

It’s unknown whether the shows will go dark permanently, but we hope to see the return of these extremely talented performers to the parks very soon. Select equity performers returned to Walt Disney World back in September after initial negotiations, but for the most part, the majority of entertainment across the resort remained dark, with performers on extended furlough up until the recent layoffs. Other impacted shows include “Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, “Festival of the Lion King” and “Finding Nemo – The Musical” at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, as well as the “Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue” dinner show at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

  1. Not to be “that guy” , but I wouldn’t be terribly sad if this show was removed. It doesn’t really fit Tomorrowland’s theme, and seems slightly dated at this point. However, it is a very enjoyable show to watch and is a good way to enjoy the AC. I wish the best for any cast members laid off!!!

  2. Laugh floornone of my family’s favorites! The behind the scenes talent is incredible and Are part of our favorite memories!

  3. Was not aware Monsters inc never reopened. That was stupid plenty of space for social distance. Yes capacity probably 33% at best and added cast to direct guests and keep families separated. But hey why work a little harder so people can enjoy 1 of the best shows in MK. Wouldn’t want to spend some extra money right cheapskate oh I mean Chapek. Seriously thinking never again to WDW. Disneyland yes my daughter lives in CA. Better vibe in DL but who knows Chapek will screw the pooch on that experience also. What a horses arse.

  4. This makes me sick. They layoff workers and give raises to their executives. Why would people want to go back to Disney and spend their money? That is not how you treat your employees. The executives are not the ones working with guests creating the experience and bringing everything to life in the Florida heat and rain. They are not the ones who have to deal with guess who are tired, angry, stinky and has kids who are spoiled. No the executives sit in a nice A/C office pushing paperwork and figuring out how to raise prices and spend money. Shame on Disney for what they have done to all their employees since March. I will never be going back to Disney.
