PHOTO REPORT: Disney’s Hollywood Studios 10/13/20 (New Face Mask Announcement, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Ride Vehicle Barrier, Droid Parts, and More)

Bright Suns, Travelers! We’re excited to bring you all the new things from Disney’s Hollywood Studios today, we certainly had a hot, sunny day for exploring the different worlds found within this park. Let’s get started!

The digital sign at the Hyperion Theatre is finally working again. This sign delivers guests information on ride wait times and, since the parks have reopened, Heath and Safety Reminders.

In construction update news, the Legends of Hollywood sign has had some of the hardware necessary for the neon put back in place installed. The clips and glass supports can be seen here just underneath the edge of the scrim fabric.

An updated audio face mask announcement can be heard in the parks now specifying that guests not complying with the rules will be asked to leave the park. We appreciate the efforts of the Cast Members and the Walt Disney Company to keep their guests and employees safe.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance had a bit of a rocky start to the day, having a delayed opening with no estimated opening time. It wasn’t down for long, thankfully, and welcomed guests in around 11am.

While we waited for our Boarding Group to be called, we browsed Black Spire Outpost, and noticed that the line for Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run was weaving through an unusual location. Two doors to backstage areas had been opened to allow for additional social distancing space for the line.

While guests didn’t go very far backstage, it was still fun to get a little sneak peek into what lies “beyond.”

When our Boarding Group was called, we noticed that the umbrellas which provide shade for guests waiting in line for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance had been spaced further away from the queue than normal. This area has become a waiting area for those whose Boarding Groups are about to be called, rather than those whose Groups have been called, making for an uncomfortable experience for those trying to access the entrance to the attraction. With this added bit of space, this area will hopefully feel less like a gauntlet one has to run in order to experience this attraction.

During our ride on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance we were seated in a prison transport that was testing a new rigid plexiglass divider for increased ride vehicle capacity. It appears to be the only ride vehicle with such a divider at this time. Be sure to follow WDWNT for future updates!

We found some fun merchandise today. Ahsoka’s lightsaber pair were back in stock at Doh Ondar’s, but there’s still no word on when the new color changing lightsabers will arrive.

We found droid parts being sold separately for the first time at Droid Depot, with a special if you bought three. Now you can change your droid’s look one part or piece at a time, or repair them as needed!

And last but certainly not least, we found this adorable Big Feet plush duo at Once Upon A Time. We think Sven looks just like baby Sven from the beginning of Frozen, don’t you? Plus there’s a new sale on Big Feet plush which makes them $22 each when you buy two. How can you resist these faces now?

We made another friend in the wood carvers booth while waiting to shop in the market. Every time we stand in a line we find something new we haven’t seen before. We had a great day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and we hope you enjoyed coming along with us. Have a magical day!
