More of the illuminated canopy structure has been installed on the TRON Lightcycle / Run track at Magic Kingdom. Though rumors indicate the project is severely delayed, progress continues solely on the canopy.
While some of the track has had a white tarp on it, protective orange tarps have been added where the canopy will be.
New white canopy is visible in the center of the support structure.
The giant red crane perpetually parked at the construction site has been used for installing canopy pieces.
Another crane seems ready to snag one piece while another sits in scaffolding on the bed of a truck.
Some workers were visible on the installed canopy, which will completely cover the exterior track.
We’re excited to see some progress on TRON Lightcycle / Run, even if the ride won’t be opening on time.
TRON was notably excluded from the recent list of “priority” projects across Disney Parks. The list, however, did include Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser at Walt Disney World, as well as Avengers Campus and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disneyland Resort. Between delays, layoffs, and a shift in priorities, you could say the project has been temporarily “derezzed”, unlikely to make the race for the deadline. A similar fate has fallen Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, but with that attraction originally set for Summer 2020, it seems likely it will at least be ready for Fall 2021.
I hope they at least get it to a point where the WDW Railroad can operate
