“Darkwing Duck” Reboot Currently in Development for Disney+

A “Darkwing Duck” reboot is currently in development at Disney+, according to Variety.

The original “Darkwing Duck” ran from 1991 to 1992 with 91 episodes. It follows superhero Darkwing Duck (a.k.a. Drake Mallard), his sidekick Launchpad McQuack, and sometimes his adopted daughter Gosalyn.

The rebooted “DuckTales” series has set up the possibility of a “Darkwing Duck” reboot, introducing Launchpad, Darkwing, and Gosalyn. In season 2 of “DuckTales”, Drake Mallard was president of the Darkwing Duck fan club, with Darkwing being a fictional character in the universe. Drake Mallard then became Darkwing Duck himself.

No writer is attached to the new project, but Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, and Alex McAtee of Point Grey Pictures are reportedly executive producing the project.

Chip and Dale appeared as the Rescue Rangers in “DuckTales” earlier this year, which may mean Disney+ is interested in rebooting even more nostalgic ’90s cartoons.

  1. This I can get behind. Guess I’ll dust off and finish my screenplay for a darkwing beyond show with an old drake and gosyln as the new DW before it’s too late.
