Bob Iger Leaving Disney Completely in December 2021; Considered Running for President, Now Wants Role in Biden Administration
Bob Iger, the former CEO and now Chairman of The Walt Disney Company, has been thinking big about his plans for “life after the mouse”. In an interview, he openly admitted to giving serious thought to running for President of the United States, and while those plans have come and gone, he says he’d be open to taking a role in upcoming President Joe Biden’s administration.
On the latest episode of “The David Rubenstein Show: Peer-to-Peer Conversations”, Iger appeared in an interview (recorded September 11, 2020) stating he’d seriously considered running for president after the 2016 election, stating that he did a lot of “homework” to study the feasibility of it. Ultimately, he came to the realization of “how difficult the path might be in the Democratic party for a businessman to actually get the nomination.”
However, now that a run for presidency is off Iger’s to-do list, he’s vying for something far more feasible: a role in Biden’s administration, or at least a chance at serving the country in some way. As he stated in his interview:
“Giving back in some fashion—serving our country in some fashion—is certainly something that I would consider seriously… but a lot of it would depend on what it is, what the opportunity is, and whether I thought it would be something that I would both be stimulated by and be good at.”
