Bob Iger Leaving Disney Completely in December 2021; Considered Running for President, Now Wants Role in Biden Administration

Bob Iger, the former CEO and now Chairman of The Walt Disney Company, has been thinking big about his plans for “life after the mouse”. In an interview, he openly admitted to giving serious thought to running for President of the United States, and while those plans have come and gone, he says he’d be open to taking a role in upcoming President Joe Biden’s administration.

On the latest episode of “The David Rubenstein Show: Peer-to-Peer Conversations”, Iger appeared in an interview (recorded September 11, 2020) stating he’d seriously considered running for president after the 2016 election, stating that he did a lot of “homework” to study the feasibility of it. Ultimately, he came to the realization of “how difficult the path might be in the Democratic party for a businessman to actually get the nomination.”

However, now that a run for presidency is off Iger’s to-do list, he’s vying for something far more feasible: a role in Biden’s administration, or at least a chance at serving the country in some way. As he stated in his interview:

“Giving back in some fashion—serving our country in some fashion—is certainly something that I would consider seriously… but a lot of it would depend on what it is, what the opportunity is, and whether I thought it would be something that I would both be stimulated by and be good at.”

Before taking on the role of civil servant, though, Iger still has another year at Disney left. He’s still serving as the company’s Executive Chairman, and isn’t due to leave until December of next year, according to Bloomberg. The company, currently in the midst of various mass layoffs after the prolonged closure of its theme parks, is being led by Iger’s successor, Bob Chapek. When the corporate shakeup took place, Iger stated he’d stay on as an advisor to Chapek in order to allow for an easier transition.

Iger, who made sizeable contributions to Joe Biden’s campaign, has yet to appear on any nominee lists for the upcoming administration.

Hmmm how could someone who’s turbo-rich give back to his country? Iger’s one big idea is acting as a glorified lobbyist. Great job Bob!

Heaven forbid that Iger ran for President. Just because one business man ran successfully doesn’t mean the Presidency is open for any and all business men.

Not sure why you’re all hating on Iger and Disney. Many companies were forced closed and had to lay off workers due to covid. If Americans treated covid like they should have right from the start, then maybe you wouldn’t still be feeling it’s affects.
