Aloha from Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort! Construction has been moving along steadily as part of its massive refurbishment, so we thought it was time to pay another visit and see how things are going!

While there haven’t been any more crossbeams added to the top of the resort’s monorail station since our last visit, the beam that intersects them has been extended.

On the platform, even more decorative beams have been removed, with only one section left to go outside of the ends.

The removal has left a unobscured view from the top half of the platform, over which the crossbeams will extend.

Through a gap in the fence, we can see some of the equipment and vehicles being used for this part of the refurbishment.

From below the monorail tracks, we can see the same gaps on the roof we found last time, suggesting that there may not be anything else removed.

(I just want to give a shout out to that tiny plant growing on the roof. Stay rooted!)

A similar beam pattern can be seen on the bridge leading from the monorail station to the Great Ceremonial House.

From the pool area, we can see how the crossbeams will resemble the original structure that was dismantled back in October.

Meanwhile, work also continues on the Moana-themed rooms coming to the resort.

As we noted last time, the plywood that blocked these rooms is gone or covered, making a more visually pleasing look, at least from the outside.

Scrim now partially covers the outdoor stairway on this building, which only helps prove that the resort has been bustling with activity.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will be reopening in summer 2021 if construction remains on schedule. Below is concept art for the finished Great Ceremonial House.

  1. Does anyone know when this construction will be fi isles? DVC members are allowed to stay during construction , but is it worth it? We are scheduled for the Summer, but are looking into changing resorts. Should we?
