Chocolate Cupcake with White Chocolate Peppermint Filling

From when we first picked up the cupcake, we could tell the cake itself was fresh, as it was incredibly soft, but not brittle. The cupcake also includes a pretty standard buttercream frosting to create the green and red used for the wreath design.

A white chocolate Mickey tops the frosting. The white chocolate has a mild flavor. In true Disney cupcake form, the copious green and red frosting stains easily.

The entire cupcake is dusted with iridescent sugar. This reminds us a bit of the Christmas cupcake at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

The holiday cupcake starts with a standard chocolate cupcake base.

The white chocolate peppermint filling is the real standout. The filling is a bit thick, though not as heavy as the texture would indicate. The filling really pops with a mild peppermint taste — enough to establish that this is indeed a peppermint cupcake, but not so much as to make you feel like you’re eating a candy cane. The balance of texture and flavor of this filling is exactly what we wanted.

Overall, this is an excellent cupcake with mild but unmistakable flavors that we would be happy to mobile order again this holiday season.
