“Spider-Man 3” Reportedly Bringing Back Andrew Garfield, Kirsten Dunst, and Alfred Molina For Potential Live-Action Spider-Verse

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Alfred Molina, who played Doctor Octopus in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2, is confirmed to be returning in the new franchise’s currently untitled Spider-Man 3. We learned in October that Jamie Foxx would also be returning to the series as Electro, who he played in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

New rumors (via Collider) also state that Andrew Garfield and Kirsten Dunst will return too. Garfield portrayed Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man films while Kirsten Dunst played Mary Jane Watson in the original Spider-Man trilogy. It’s possible Tobey Maguire (Peter Parker in Spider-Man) and Emma Stone (Gwen Stacey in The Amazing Spider-Man) will return as well.

The confirmed castings and the rumors suggest that the new film will be delving into the Spider-Verse, previously explored by the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, and Marisa Tomei will all be returning for the third film. Benedict Cumberbatch will be reprising his role as Doctor Strange, lending further credence to the film involving some sort of multiverse magic.

Spider-Man 3 was delayed due to COVID-19, but is currently set to debut November 5, 2021.

Tom Holland might not [reportedly] be a fan of the old characters coming to this next movie, but for all of us who saw the older Spider-man movies it’s awesome.
