Journey of Water Inspired by Moana Confirmed as “Unexpected to Open” at EPCOT in 2021

It looks like the path to the Journey of Water Inspired by Moana at EPCOT has been reduced to a trickle, according to a new USA Today report.

The article, which includes quotes from Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro, confirmed that the walkthrough experience isn’t expected to open this year. Thankfully, this is no reason to panic, as this was initially rumored to debut in time for EPCOT’s fortieth anniversary in 2022. Last April, a 2021 date was listed on the attraction’s serigraph poster description on shopDisney, but was quickly retracted. Currently, demolition is underway on Innoventions West to make room for the offering.

Though it may be a while until we can take the journey with Te Fiti, when it comes to the patience of Disney fans, there’s no telling how far (or how long) they’ll go.

  1. Oh, well then everyone will just have to shell out $700/night to stay in the spectacularly refurbed Moana rooms at Poly. That’s reasonable. 🤪Really, no one’s shocked right?

  2. Shocker… more delays in Florida. At least they are announcing this one and not just quietly boarding up the path the track takes or secretly taking it out of promotional materials or just failing to mention anything at all
