Kia ora! We’re back at the Universal Orlando Resort today to check in on the reopening of Volcano Bay. The water park has been closed since November, but is now open and ready to welcome back guests. We grabbed out 3-Park Annual Pass and decided to head out and check out all the happenings on the first day of reopening.

We arrived bright and early and jumped in line for the shuttle over to the park. It looked like we were going to be in for a very busy day.

As we made our way into the park, we were greeted by Team Members eager to help and welcome guests back to Volcano Bay. The lines seemed long, but things moved quickly and soon we had our Tapu Tapu and were making our way down to Waturi Beach to grab a perfect spot in front of the volcano.

Guests are required to wear face coverings when visiting shops, restaurants, bars, and while exiting the park. Face masks are encouraged while walking around the park, but not required, and should be removed before entering pools or experiencing the attractions.

Team Members in some positions are wearing masks and face shields for added protection, since some guests often approach without face masks. Remember to grab your mask before going to grab food or a drink.

There are plenty of Team Members cleaning around the park and lots of hand sanitizer. Your Tapu Tapu will even remind you to wash your hands frequently throughout the day.

3-Park Annual Passholders can pick up a new Waturi Native UOAP button from Waturi Marketplace, while supplies last.

We had lunch at Kohola Reef and tried the Kohola Burger and Curry Chicken. The fries were a little over seasoned, but everything else was delicious.

You can’t go to Volcano Bay without having a Waturi Fusion ice cream. This ice cream combines banana, blue raspberry, orange, and strawberry flavors for the perfect way to cool off on a hot day.

Of course, you can also cool off with a refreshing alcoholic beverage from Dancing Dragons. We had the Volcano Bay Rum Punch.

The crowds were surprisingly light for the first day of opening, especially for a Saturday. There was a 110 minute wait for Krakatau, but everything else was “Ride Now” or had a minimal wait. This was the perfect day to visit!

Even with low crowds, the cabanas and premium seating were sold out for the day.

Time to grab a tube and relax.

The weather was amazing and the water was perfect. We’re so glad we got to enjoy such a beautiful day here at Volcano Bay.

Leaving the park, there are continuous spiels and Team Members reminding guests they must wear a face covering while exiting the park and from that point onward.
