As a part of their Vault Series, Salt and Straw at Downtown Disney District has brought back five flavors of ice cream. The establishment always has fun new flavors to try. We’ve tried a few of the Vault Series ice creams and were fans of both the Strawberry Tres Leches and the Salted Caramel Cupcake flavors, but we didn’t like the Brown Ale & Bacon flavor very much. However, we’re back for more and, hopefully, this one will be another hit!
On this visit we decided to try the Cinnatopia Cinnamon Bun ice cream.
Cinnatopia Cinnamon Bun Ice Cream – $6.25 (One Scoop)
“Cinnamon roll, cinnamon gaweyness with ribbons of frosting!” proclaimed Ella, the second-grader who dreamt up this runaway hit for our Student Inventor Series. It preserves each glorious part of the classic bun—fluffy roll, gooey filling, and cream cheese frosting—in cinnamon ice cream.
The cinnamon base is perfect; very smooth with a soft and subtle vanilla taste. The cinnamon flavor is not too strong as the vanilla helps balance it out. Needless to say, we love this flavor!
This ice cream is amazing. We would put it second to the Strawberry Tres Leches we had from Salt and Straw a few days ago.
Actual pieces of cinnamon roll are scattered throughout the ice cream. These bites are somewhat chewy and very rich. We can taste the accents of cinnamon roll icing on the pieces as well.
Because we tried this ice cream on a hot day, it melted quickly – but it was still delicious!
This Vault Series menu item is a great option for anyone looking for a delightfully sweet treat. We also loved the Double Chocolate Ice Cream Sundae available in Disney California Adventure.
