The new EPCOT nighttime spectacular “Harmonious” is a tribute to the power of story and song that unite us, leveraging music and visuals from across Disney and artists around the world. The centerpiece barge for “Harmonious” has made its way onto the World Showcase Lagoon at EPCOT — and we have additional details on the show.

Yesterday, we reported a portion of the centerpiece barge has been added to the other barges out on the lagoon. Now, this iconic platform that houses the ring is structurally complete.

As one of the largest nighttime spectaculars ever produced by Walt Disney Imagineers, the show’s five floating platforms are in preparation to take centerstage place on World Showcase Lagoon. Positioned like a compass, the five platforms house the primary show equipment for “Harmonious” with the barge housing the ring in the center.

This platform holds an impressive six-story-tall ring structure that will be the centerpiece of this new show on World Showcase Lagoon at EPCOT. This is a show on a scale unlike anything we have achieved before.

This centerpiece ring will support a high-density water curtain, moving lights, and fountains in a circular form that will symbolize EPCOT’s story of global connection through the reach of Disney music for all guests to enjoy while visiting the theme park.

Disney Live Entertainment technical designers across the country have been programming various elements of the show, from media and fountains to lighting and pyrotechnics, working in a completely virtual environment. The music producers at Walt Disney Imagineering have been remotely directing recording sessions with an incredibly diverse array of musical artists, performing in studios around the world.

Work on Harmonious is still in the early stages of development and has more finishing details to come before it debuts later this year.

Are you looking forward to seeing the nighttime spectacular come to life? Let us know!

  1. Not having seen this “6 stories tall icon ring” in action, I am of the opinion that having this very structural-looking thing in the middle of the lagoon not doing anything during the day is kind of like wearing your underpants over your clothes. Nobody should (nor wants to) be seeing your undergarments during the daytime.

  2. This equipment is such an ascetic blight, forever destroying the sightlines and ascetics of World Showcase lagoon. The pavilions are literally covered up. Once again instead of spending a bit more money to do something properly and allow this equipment to move into place each evening, Disney has to needlessly penny pinch and eviscerate yet another element of what their parks formerly offered to guests in terms of experience. Disney management today does not understand, as many of their predecessors did, that an immensely profitable business can also provide an impeccable guest experience, the two are not mutually exclusive.

  3. Well if it looks like that, I have only one hope. That the center ring will light on fire as Gonzo tries to jump on his water ski through it.

  4. I don’t care how great the night time show is going to be. Disney lately hasn’t been fully thinking their ideas through. It’s so sad what’s happening to Epcot, starting with adding an attraction from Guardians of the Galaxy which has no business of being in Epcot. The daytime view of World Showcase will forever now be ruined. We’re so sorry Walt :(

  5. What an horrendous view – It is just screwing up the concept of World Showcase lagoon .. and all that to project Disney characters at night (to get more kids- family to stick/consume around) – I will miss Illuminations forever…

  6. Looks like a carnival ride. Disney’s claim to fame has always been its Themes and “Magic”. This looks too much like an over-engineered (not Imagineered) monster.
