In what has to be a pretty big surprise, the Main Street Firehouse at the Magic Kingdom has reopened from refurbishment with little fanfare and no announcement. The Firehouse doors were shut just a few weeks ago with the permanent closure of the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom card game.
We were shocked to see the doors open this evening. It wasn’t open earlier today.
Fire Engine No. 71 now sits in the Main Street Firehouse, surrounded by stanchions.
Even though the vehicle is roped off, you’re free to touch the fire engine. You can turn the crank to make the siren go off, honk the horn and ring the bells!
Patches from firehouses around the world can be found on display, just as they have been through the years.
All of the podiums, queue posts, and other Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom props have been taken out of the Firehouse, almost like the game never existed there. Well, until you look at the floor…
The old practice portal stations are still there, just for theme now.
The poster frames placed on the doors for Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom were repurposed with new art.
Other than a few fresh bricks on the floor and some new posters, we saw no other signs of refurbishment. It seems like the closure was only for the removal of Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, and nothing more. That being said, it’s nice to see the firehouse return to mostly how it was many years ago, just in time for the 50th anniversary.

Why is the Sorcerers not going on anymore?
It’s good to see something reopen from refurbishment, especially in such a timely manner!
They actually aren’t allowed to touch the vehicle.
Everyone was lol
When I worked on Main Street, the firehouse was one of my favorite hidden gems. I’m happy to see it back to how I remember it
Glad to see it return, hopefully they’ll also bring back the Fire Department T-Shirts and hats.
