On February 1st, Popeye and Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges closed for refurbishment at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. During the refurbishment, a small flash fire broke out at the attraction. However, the barges are now officially open for guests to enjoy.
Though Universal Studios and Universal’s Islands of Adventure both reached capacity today, the wait time for Popeye and Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges has been relatively short thanks to the cooler weather.
Guests to the theme park came prepared for the raging rapids with ponchos at the ready.
As water ride typically undergo refurbishment during the winter season, the next refurbishment planned at Universal’s Islands of Adventure is Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls, which will be closing for about a month beginning Monday, February 22nd.
