Though Primeval Whirl has been permanently closed for almost a year, the attraction has sat mostly untouched at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Ride vehicles were removed from the track soon after the announcement, and just last week we noticed a piece of track missing. Now Walt Disney World has filed a permit for construction at the Primeval Whirl address.
The permit contracts Disney’s in-house Buena Vista Construction Company to “provide labor, material and/or electrical for construction.”
The permit should not be taken as an indication that Primeval Whirl will be reopening, but rather that they will soon begin dismantling it completely. Dismantling of the attraction was likely delayed due to COVID-19 safety precautions, like many construction projects throughout Walt Disney World.
Will you miss Primeval Whirl or do you think it was time for it to go? Let us know in the comments.
I liked it. I actually looked forward to being jerked around in the switchback. It was better than Goofy’s Sky School.
Gonna miss it. It was a fun wild mouse. Wonder what they’re going to replace it with.
It was a family favorite. A great retro experience that my kids really enjoyed. We will definitely miss it.
They probably took the chunk of track out so they can make the pins that have the piece of the former attraction in it.
Finally getting ready for Wakanda! Yay!!! For any whom might suspect Uni is blocking, nawww—that Avenger belongs in Wakanda and is up for cross licensing. Every park wins.
I’m not sure the Primeval Whirl plot is big enough for a hidden country.
