Disney Executive Chairman Bob Iger Confirms He Will Leave the Walt Disney Company on December 31, 2021

The 2021 Annual Meeting of Shareholders began today with an introduction by former CEO Bob Iger. Iger announced last year that he would be stepping down as the CEO of the Walt Disney Company, and stated this again today.

Bob Chapek took over as CEO in February of 2020, allowing Bob Iger to fill the role of Executive Chairman. In April of 2020, Bob Iger essentially took over the role of CEO again due to the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the economy begins to recover and the COVID-19 pandemic slows, Bob Iger stated again today that he will officially be leaving the Walt Disney Company on December 31, 2021. Iger has stated in the past that he is interested in other endeavors. Iger was reportedly considered for an Ambassadorship under the Biden Administration, and is a member of California’s COVID-19 Business Recovery Task Force.

While we may not know Bob Iger’s exact plans after Disney, he has made it clear that he will officially be separating from the Company on December 31 of this year.

  1. Well, that’s half of the problem. Thanos would be pleased…but the consumers sure aren’t. This is one scenario where weeding out half of the problem is not good enough.

  2. Thanks for ruining a decades long beloved brand, acquiring IPs and other trash you can’t afford, pandering to the Communists (CCP), and ushering in woke and “social justice” ideology that alienates much of your core customer base. Good riddance. Have fun playing ambassador in China when Harris takes over as president.
