Guests Will Soon Be Able to Charge Purchases to Hotel Room with New MagicMobile Service at Walt Disney World

With the launch of the MagicMobile system at Walt Disney World today, guests can now use their smartphone as a digital ticket. Right now, the feature—available through the My Disney Experience app—allows guests to enter the theme parks, connect PhotoPass images, and gain access to the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance virtual queue.

Disney has announced that the service will soon expand to include charging to a Walt Disney World Resort hotel folio. As with MagicBands, guests would be able to charge merchandise, food, and other services to their MagicMobile Pass and the charge would be added to their Disney hotel bill.

A timeline for this feature’s integration has not yet been released. Keep checking WDWNT for updates.

  1. Maybe I missed an article so forgive me for asking this, but is Magic Mobile now the only way to get a Rise of the Resistance Boarding Group? If so, that would exclude Android users as Magic Mobile is only operating on Apple devices, for now. Or does traditional My Disney Experience app still work as normal: linking PhotoPass via QR code, viewing PhotoPass, boarding groups/virtual queues, etc?

  2. As we reach year 8 or 9 of Magicband Service, I would once again like to reiterate that I would absolutely rather have 4-7 major new attractions or shows, or a new park, or anything actually entertaining, than ever having Disney spend the money on pointless Magicbands in the first place.

Once again, THEY STILL DON’T EVEN ALLOW EFFORTLESS PAYMENTS UNLESS YOU ATTACH A ROOM. AFTER 9 YEARS.

And Universal was able to make tickets and Cashless purchasing available on their app before Disney. How utterly embarrassing. Magicband service reaches military contractor levels of multi-billion dollar waste.
