Cinderella Castle is in the middle of an “Earidescent” transformation for the 50th Anniversary of the Walt Disney World Resort. The Cinderella Castle stage is receiving a much needed makeover in preparation for the anniversary. The framework for new flooring began last week, and installation of that framing seems to be complete as of today.

The front of the Cinderella Castle stage remains covered in a grey scrim.

The framework for flooring joists are now laid across the entirety of the stage.

A long metal sheet runs down the middle of the stage and perfectly aligns with the Train
Station on the other end of Main Street U.S.A.

The framework is laid on top of weather-proofing sheets which were added after the removal of the old flooring.

A radiant heat system is being installed beginning at stage left. The heating system may be used to keep performers warm on chilly winter nights. It could also aid in drying the stage after frequent Central Florida storms.

  1. I would venture this is more likely a chilled water system to keep them cool during the way more prevalent Florida heat. Furthermore it could actually do both which doesn’t require a whole lot of engineering to do this. The real work is in the systems that pump the water through the tubing.

    • Both. There’s an area at a school near me that uses radiant ceiling panels both for heating and cooling.

  2. Do you think the little platforms and arches are coming back as well? They’re in the concept art but it looks like the hardware for them is not being built.

  3. I just want to know when it will be done because we are going in May and I don’t want to see so much mess everywhere. Epcot is bad enough as it is…
