Disney’s Art of Animation resort reopened back in November after being closed for over seven months last year. We reported back in February that the giant character pages in front of the resort were under refurbishment. Today, the giant sketch pages are restored while the jellyfish over at the Big Blue Pool are receiving a fresh coat of paint.
Guests are once again greeted by the friendly faces of Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Lightning McQueen from Cars.
The other side of the lobby includes Nemo from Finding Nemo and Simba from The Lion King.
All of the giant character pages were faded from constant sun exposure, so we are glad they got a refresh. Ariel’s hair is back to her normal iconic shade of red.
The Art of Animation is a colorful animation-themed resort, and guests can enjoy themed areas that match the giant pages out front.
Fans of Cars will be glad to see Lightning McQueen back with all of his speed. Kachow!
Over at the Big Blue Pool, the jellyfish are receiving a fresh coat of paint.
The tentacles of the jellyfish remain wrapped in plastic while the tops of the jelly receive some bright pink paint. The color difference can be seen between the jellyfish on the left versus the newly painted ones on the right.
The pool is still drained and lots of construction equipment remains strewn around the area.
The handles used to get in and out of the pool are no longer wrapped in plastic, although they do seem to have some sort of tie on them now.
The Big Blue Pool is scheduled to remain closed through early April 2021.

I love this resort, it’s so beautiful! I love that it’s so Disney
Art of Animation is an amazing hotel. I stayed in a Little Mermaid room last year and it was a truly memorable trip. The huge Ursula at the hotel is one of my favorite memories.
I haven’t stayed there, but we will be there this coming July! And I’m so glad the face-lift is being given and hopefully everything will be opened by then.
We are going to stay there in September. Looking forward to it!!
Stayed there April 2019. Very enjoyable experience.
