The World Drive entrance to Walt Disney World is currently being refurbished for the resort’s 50th anniversary. The entrance is now three-quarters of the way done, with Mickey’s marquee freshly painted.
Donald’s marquee and attached “Welcome” sign have been completed for a few weeks now.
The refurbishment is simplifying the many colors of each entrance archway.
Mickey’s background is now royal blue, with dozens of Mickey head silhouettes.
The columns are different shades of gray with gold accents. Each character remains the same, having been covered in plastic while the surrounding marquee is painted.
All that remains now is to repaint the archway and Minnie’s marquee on the other side of the road, as well as replace the flags and banner.
The Western Way, Hotel Plaza Boulevard, and Osceola Parkway entrances have already received their 50th anniversary refurbishments. Once World Drive is completed, work will move to the final entrance on World Center Drive. Keep checking WDWNT for updates.
