We are keeping a close eye on the progress of the TRON Lightcycle / Run construction at the Magic Kingdom. While this attraction will not open for the Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th Anniversary as originally planned, we are still glad to see that progress is moving forward on the canopy framework.
Temporary support structures continue to be dismantled towards the low end of the canopy. Only a small piece of the frame for the canopy has yet to be added, making the construction of the frame itself almost complete.
The small section at the top seems to be the final piece needed to complete the framing. Does this look like a giant ham to anyone else?
The middle section of the canopy framing appears to be finished.
Temporary supports for the highest pieces of the canopy still remain, although we expect them to be dismantled soon.
The framework for the canopy is almost complete, however, there is still quite a way to go before the actual canopy is finished.
Comparing what is already constructed at the Magic Kingdom to the concept art and the sister attraction at Shanghai Disneyland, there are still quite a few additions needed before we can call it complete.
Concept art shows the addition of panels and lighting around the entire structure. Before work can begin on that, the remaining temporary supports for the framework will have to be completely removed. The canopy is still likely several months (if not more) away from completion.

Yes! I’m so excited for the Tron:lightcycle Run at the Magic Kingdom! This will be my favorite ride next year!
I wonder if they will be able rebuild the railroad before the canopy illuminated covered is installed. It would be nice to have it operational again before the 50th celebration. I expect that is while the canopy it being completed.
