Orange County Mayor Jerry Demmings commented today on the county’s mask mandate, saying it will likely remain in effect until 50% of the population is vaccinated. He estimates this to be around July 2021.
The mandate, which was introduced in 2020, declares that every person in Orange County must wear a face covering, and businesses may deny entry to non-compliant customers. The mandate and its exceptions are available here.
Most of Walt Disney World is within Orange County.

I’m going to take this as good news because he is putting a definite end date on it! Hopefully once the county mandate is gone and more of the population is vaccinated, WDW will feel comfortable lifting theirs.
Sure Disney can do what they want regardless but they claim to be following government regulations so once this mandate is lifted it’ll be interesting to see if they actually lift theirs as well or come up with some new reason to keep it.
Only reason they need is that it keeps people safe
Given Disney’s stance on “safety” (and trying to avoid any more bad press/image), they are likely to keep their mask mandates beyond Orange County. I’m not holding my breath, no pun intended.

What if more than 50% of the population DOESN’T want to be vaccinated? And I’m assuming they don’t include people who have already had the virus?
What if orange county goes the entire year without reaching 50% vaccinated, and then next year there’s another vaccine (like the flu), etc and they have to start over (and when?). Will they just have to wear masks forever? Wouldn’t put it past them.
Yes, that’s how it works. Choices have consequences. Getting a shot in the arm is a lot easier than wearing a mask every single day.
You don’t know hospitality employees very well. We are desperately seeking the vaccine out in Facebook groups to protect ourselves from all the…tourists…who don’t care about others.
And we’ve all been wearing masks or not being able to work for a year now. The vaccine is a much better option than death or serious illness or wearing these masks faithfully which we ALSO dislike like everyone else. All of us have watched our co-workers and family be brutally affected by the disease. Some of us have watched our friends DIE.
So we will get vaccinated, don’t worry. We’re a Blue County.

This is great to hear, but kind of useless since the county can’t enforce their mask mandate anyway per State regulations.
You people are the same one that are always complaining. So don’t wear your mask but remember when you do get covid-19. Don’t expect to be taken care of by people that do
And when YOU get sick with COVID, don’t demand that the healthy people around you mask up and stay out of your way.
Uhh… We treat anyone who is sick and comes to the hospital… Do you think there’s a questionnaire that asks if you wore your mask or not and if you check off no you’re kicked back out into the street?
But you were told that masks protect others from YOU, not the other way around! So since you believe in all this mask-wearing, why would you say that? So for these people who get covid?–You’re trying to scare them with the 0.04% fatality rate? You realize the chances of a young person even having to go the hospital are quite low, right? Even now Bill Maher is going on a rant about all you covid-fear driven people swallowed EVERYTHING the media fed you –and you walk around with absurdly incorrect statistics about this virus.

What mask mandate, he can’t enforce any of it thanks to our Governor, mask mandate, lol! Restaurants and stores for the most part where I go don’t say anything.
Since it’s mostly the older population vaccinated here, who do not go out. It’s good that mask mandate is place. It’s the younger generation that’s testing + more now. Than people in over 50. I do testing in Orange county and 20 to 25% test % every day and numbers are rising.

Don’t you remember the goal was supposed to be only to flatten the curve and not overwhelm the system? Why can’t all you “mask lemmings” even acknowledge that the goal changed and you followed right along,…nodded when they told you these masks and restrictions work (yet didn’t provide you any science). You just keep repeating it…which doesn’t make it true.
