Fall Refurbishment Planned For Tiger Lily Wet Play Area at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, Possibly to Remove Connections to Character

Disney announced today that the Tiger Lily Wet Play area at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort will be undergoing a refurbishment this fall and will be unavailable to guests.

From Sept. 7 through November 2021, the Tiger Lily Wet Play Area at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort will be closed for refurbishment. The nearby Vero Beach Feature Pool and Pirate’s Plunge Pool Slide will remain open for Guests.

We have seen Disney make cultural sensitivity related changes recently, and this refurbishment could signal that the Tiger Lily Wet Play Area is next. Tiger Lily is famously the Native American character from Disney’s Peter Pan. Could this refurbishment include a name change to something more culturally sensitive? Only time will tell.

  1. Enough of this garbage already! There is nothing wrong with Tiger Lilly!!! I have Native American blood in my veins too

  2. So rather than adjust the character, they choose just to remove and ignore the character of color? Sounds like inclusion and diversity to.me
