Today, Disney has changed their COVID-19 safety protocol to allow guests once again to fill their own beverages at self-service stations around Walt Disney World Resort. We checked out the new process for filling beverages in action at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

There are social distancing stickers set up at the station and in the line.

Guests are first instructed to use the hand sanitizer available at the entrance to the service station.

A gloved Cast Member may then hand a cup to the guest, depending on location. Guests with refillable resort mugs can bring theirs up instead.

After that, guests are free to choose and fill their beverages.

Not all locations have made the change yet. When we stopped by Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Cast Members were still the only ones permitted to use the beverage station and were filling cups for guests.

Guests at Blizzard Beach have been allowed to fill their own Rapid Refill cups since the park reopened in March, but none of the other parks or resorts have allowed this.

At the locations allowing guests to use the self-service stations, guests may refill the same cup rather than requiring a new paper cup each time. This will come as good news to fans of the resorts’ refillable mugs.

  1. Universal has been doing this for months and months with the Freestyle machines Why are things so hard for Disney? This is not rocket science.
