Fantasyland continues to be under extensive refurbishments in anticipation of the 50th anniversary of Magic Kingdom this October. While all areas of the park have been receiving attention, Fantasyland has been getting the most updating with shops and attractions receiving façade work. Over in Storybook Circus, repainting continues on Dumbo the Flying Elephant and Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station.
Repainting of the Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station began back in March but Casey Jr.’s engine is still stored behind planters as more work is completed.
The roof of the coal car is a fresh, shining blue with gold embellishment. The smokestack is yet to be refreshed.
Dumbo the Flying Elephant has already seen repainting of the right and center sections of the awning. Work has now begun on the left section.
Starting near the big top, the blue roof is being repainted.
One section remains to be painted on the red roof where the awning and the tent building meet.
Patches of the rooftop are incomplete, allowing for comparison of the areas. The refreshed color looks bold and clean compared to the old, faded hue.
Painting has not started on the yellow and red roof sections yet, but we can expect to see more progress over the week.
Stay tuned to WDWNT for updates on the ongoing refurbishment of Storybook Circus.
Dumbo’s queue was in seriously rough shape when we were there in early March. The railings are in need of being completely redone (right side, at least).
