Walt Disney World Resort is beginning to reduce physical distancing from six feet in some areas. The six feet requirement has been removed from some signage at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and we expect to see more changes in the coming week. Some of these changes will be at entertainment offerings around the parks.

A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King

“A Celebration of the Festival of the Lion King,” a modified version of Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s famous show that opened last week, will be raising its capacity, seating guests in some of the rows that have been left empty in the past week. This will allow more guests to see the show in one day.

“For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will also raise its capacity and reduce physical distancing this weekend.

Disney has not announced how much physical distancing will be reduced, although studies have found that three feet is a safe distance, so it is likely that will be the minimum. Distancing will not be reduced in dining or shopping areas, or any other place where guests remove their masks.
